By N24 Correspondent, KATHMANDU:- Chief Minister of Lumbini Province and senior leader of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s faction of Nepal Communist Party (NCP), Shankar Pokhrel, has said that Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” has not been consistent on his electoral constituencies in the past and thus, is scared of election.
“Look at the history of comrade Prachanda’s electoral constituencies,” Pokhrel said, as he was addressing a meeting of NCP supporters of PM Oli’s faction in Bharatpur, Chitwan on Monday, January 4, 2020.
“In the first Constituent Assembly election, Prachanda ran for election from Rolpa. Then in the second Constituent Assembly election, he could not run from Rolpa and had to move to Siraha. In the last general election, he ran from Chitwan. But now, he cannot face and run for election even from Chitwan,” Pokhrel said, adding that he felt pity on Prachanda for constantly changing his constituencies.
“Prachanda has the basic character of not trusting people of a particular constituency for a long time. In the upcoming election, either he will boycott election or will not run from Chitwan. Prachanda no more trusts the people of Chitwan, which is his home district,” Pokhrel said.
On NCP party unity, Pokhrel said he tried his best to save the party unity, but because of the arrogance of Prachanda and a bunch of leaders, he could not succeed in his efforts.
“Constantly asking for the resignation of an elected prime minister was not fair. The onus now lies on Prachanda to win the election and become a prime minister through the election on his own,” Pokhrel said.
On the decision of PM Oli to dissolve the House of Representatives and declare the fresh election, Pokhrel said it was the only necessary step to save the country from the non-nationalist forces and to make sure the country moves forward on the path of political stability.
As for the ongoing street protests of Nepal-Dahal faction of NCP, Pokhrel said this particular faction’s leaders and supporters may have to live on the street forever, if they do not correct themselves.
“You still have time. If you do not correct, you will be nowhere in the parliament or government, but only in the street from here onward,” Pokhrel said.
