Padam Kunwar, whose detailed identity is yet to be revealed, has slapped the UCPN (Maoist) Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ at the tea reception hosted by his own party at Bhrikutimandap Kathmandu on Friday.
Kunwar first approached Prachanda with greetings and eventually slapped him in his cheek amid the presence of large number of cadres and dignitaries invited for the tea reception hosted by the Maoist on the occasion of Dashain, Tihar, Nepal Sambat and Chhath. Prachanda’s glass that he was wearing dropped down to the floor due to the slapping.
The enraged cadres rounded up the assaulter and attacked him. The injured assaulter was held by the police and took him to the Nepal Police Club located opposite to Bhrikutimandap.
The cadres have blocked the vehicular movements of Exhibition Road protesting against the assault of their party Supremo Prachanda.
The political leaders have been frequently assaulted by the general people as well as their own cadres venting their ire and frustration against the leaders for their political inaction.
Prior to this incident, CPN (UML) Chairperson Jhalanath Khanal, Nepali Congress president Sushil Koirala and other leaders were also assaulted by the general people and their cadres.
