Prachanda confident about November poll; pledges support to genuine demands of Tharu Community

BIRATNAGAR: One day after Nepali people faced a lot of problems due to the Nepal bandh (shut-down strike) called by 42-political parties protesting against the declaration of the elections of the constituent assembly, chairperson of UCPN-Maoist Pushpa Kamal has claimed that the striking political parties will soon agree to end their agitation and be ready for contesting CA elections.

Talking to journalists at Biratnagar Airport on Monday Dahal claimed that the election to the CA would be held on the declared date, November 19, at any cost.

Dahal said he is optimistic about the parties’ reaching consensus especially because the High Level Political Committee has Monday morning decided to engage in talks with the parties. “The HLPC has decided to hold talks between agitating parties leaders and the top brass of the four major political parties, both formally and informally,” he added.

Dahal, also the former Prime Minister, said the resignation of the government and dissolution of HLPC would not be acceptable even if consensus was forged in today’s HLPC meeting to recommend the government to address the rightful demands of the dissenting parties.

Meanwhile, addressing a program in Itahari today itself Dahal, who is quiet smart for changing his tone as per the sentiment of the people said that his party is serious towards meeting the genuine demands raised by people of Tharu community. He informed that his party would try to fulfill all the demands of Tharu community as Tharu youths have had a significant contribution during the people’s war, and that their number was also high in the list of disappeared people.
