KATHMANDU: Minister for Land Reform and Management Bhim Prasad Gautam has disclosed that the land policy and land consumption policy were not formulated due to obstruction by political parties.
At a programme organized here on Wednesday by Self-reliance Centre, Minister Gautam said, ‘One political party says land should also be registered in the name of tillers provided that all have equal rights to the land while another stands to the point that their lands should be protected in their names given they are the son of the territory’.
Claiming that certain agreement will be made in connection with land policy and the new constitution will also enshrine some provisions on land policy and land use policy, he added, ‘It will be set out in the law that none will possess more than enough land and no other will remain landless’.
Stressing the need to preserve the public land to avert misuse of and dependence on land, he suggested the farmers associations to pile pressure on the sides concerned. RSS
