Police seize 150 kg Marijuana from Ambulance


KATHMANDU: What do you think if ambulance is running on the road, you probably think it is carrying sick person and you might give side to the Ambulance thinking that it’s obstruction might risk the life of a patient but if you see an ambulance you might not necessary carrying sick person every time as it might have been carrying illegal drugs.

In some incidents, people are found misusing the humanitarian vehicle for illegal purpose as sometimes it is used to transport illegal sandalwood and sometimes to supply illegal currency. In similar incident, Police impounded an ambulance on its way to Birgunj from Manahari of Makawanpur district for carrying marijuana.

Police seized around 150 kilograms of marijuana from Churiyamai, on the border between Bara and Makawanpur districts.

Acting on a tip-off, the security personnel held the ambulance with the contraband drugs at the border of Bara and Makawanpur districts. The ambulance was registered in the name of Grace Hospital, Chuchhepati, Kathmandu, the District Police Office, Makawanpur, said. Ambulance driver, Ram Chandra Bhandari of Sindhupalchowk district, a temporary resident of Kapan, Kathmandu, has been kept in police custody for investigation.

Police acquired information about the marijuana trader from driver Bhandari and other information in connection to it, police stated.
