N24 Correspondent, KATHMANDU:- Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and the Thakur-Mahato faction of the Janata Samajwadi Party have agreed to form a task force to amend the constitution.
The agreement was reached during a meeting between Prime Minister Oli and JSP Chairman Mahanta Thakur and senior leader Rajendra Mahato at the PM’s residence in Baluwatar on Thursday.
“They have agreed in principle to form a task force or a draft committee to amend the constitution.
Whatever its name is, it is for amending the constitution, ‘JSP leader Surendra Jha told Sethopati near Thakur.’ The task force will be announced today.
All the agreements reached between them are public today. ‘
If there is an agreement on this issue, the demands raised by Thakur and Mahato will be addressed.
In such a situation, the Thakur-Mahato faction has already announced to join the Oli-led government.
Thakur Mahato’s party claims that they have more than 18 MPs.
The UML-led government needs the support of 15 lawmakers from the other party.
