PM assures efficient distribution of relief for flood


KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sushil Koirala has said the government would efficiently distribute relief materials and arrange for rehabilitation of flood and landslide victims across the country.

Koirala made the statement while receiving a memorandum from a delegation headed by lawmaker Amrit Kumar Bohara on behalf of flood and landslide victims of Ramche of Sindhupalchok district.

As many as 156 persons were killed while several others were displaced when a landslide swept away entire Jure village of Sindhupalchok on August 2.

On the occasion, PM Koirala said that the government would maintain a strict scrutiny in order to ensure efficient distribution of relief materials to the victims.

He further asserted that the locals should also remain alert against the potential irregularities on relief distribution at the local level.
