KATHMANDU: Parliamentary Hearing Committee under the Federal Parliament is to conduct hearing on seven persons–office-bearers of the two constitutional commissions and five Supreme Court justices nominees from Wednesday.
Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya has been recommended to the post of Chief Election Commissioner while Prakash Dhungana, Sushmalata Mathema, Hari Phunyal, Kumar Regmi and Dr Manoj Kumar Sharma for Supreme Court justices.
Similarly, Bishnu Maya Ojha has been recommended as the member of Inclusive Commission. A meeting of the PHC held today under chairmanship of Committee President Laxman Lal Karna decided to conduct hearing on the complaints filed against the nominees from 11:00 am on Wednesday as well as call all those who have filed complaints against the nominees in the PHC’s meeting.
A total of six complaints have been filed against Thapaliya while five complaints each against five Supreme Court justices. A meeting held under chairmanship of Chief Justice and Chairperson of Judiciary Council, Cholendra Shumsher JB Rana, on March 25 had recommended the names of five persons to the post Supreme Court justices.
Similarly, a meeting of Constitutional Council held on March 25 decided to recommend the name of Thapaliya to the post of Chief Election Commissioner as well as Ojha as the member of Inclusive Commission.
