Peace flame reached to Korea


SEOUL: A peace flame from Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Buddha, has reached to South Korea in a bid to promote message of peace in the world. The peace lamp reached to Korea in 13 days via Potala of Tibet, Fremel, Chindang and Chintou Buddhist monasteries of China.

President of Nepal Dr. Ram Baran Yadav has handed over the peace flame on April 19. The peace lamp which departed from Chintou of China reached to Inchan Hawor of Korea on Thursday. Korean Buddhist social workers, journalists and representatives of Nepalese Organizations welcomed the peace lamp. 68 Buddhist monks and 10 Korean journalists are participating in the peace rally.

Then the peace flame was taken to Peace Park near the border of South and North Korea and prayers were held for peace. Organizers expressed confidence that lighting of the peace lamp in Peace Park would help to reduce the conflict between both the countries.

Chief of Dosansa Monastery Sanmukh Heja expressed his gratitude to all Nepalese people, who helped to bring the peace flame to Korea. Nepalese Ambassador to Korea Kaman Singh Lama informed that the main objective of bringing the peace flame is to clear rumors about Buddha and also to enhance mutual relations between both the countries.

The peace lamp will be lit in 108 Monasteries through the flame. The peace flame will also be taken during the Lotus Lalteen Festival, scheduled of May 11. It is considered that Buddhist religion has entered into Koral during the third century. He Cho is the first Korean national to reach to Lumbini.
