‘Party reforms could not take momentum until awakening was there at upper level’

DANG: Nepali Congress (NC) central member and former minister Gagan Thapa has underlined the need of awakening campaign for the senior leadership and not limited to the grassroots cadres. At a programme organised by the Democratic Industrialist Entrepreneurs Association at Dang Dangisharan rural municipality-6 on Saturday, youth leader Thapa said the awareness campaign being held at local level was also equally important for central leaders.
“Now the awakening campaign is taking place at district level but this drive should be applicable to the upper brass”, he said, adding, “Party reforms could not take momentum until awakening was there at upper level”.
He said the factions within the party should be carefully managed to make a strong united Congress. “The prevalence of factional feud has weakened the democratic party and there is no option but to manage it”. Thapa also claimed that it was the grassroots cadres rather not the central leaders who protected the party.
