N24.KATHMANDU: Major three political parties have on Saturday agreed to push the proposed Bill on Truth and Reconciliation Commission in Legislative Parliament.
UCPN-Maoist, Congress and CPN-UML have agreed to give a final touch to the proposed bill on transitional justice mechanism and submit it for its endorsement in the parliament following a meeting today.
The bill that has been finalised will be forwarded in the legislature-parliament by the Ministry of Law.
The formation of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission that was pending since five years will be opened if the bill is endorsed by the parliament. The three party meeting on Friday had agreed in principle on the terms of the bill.
The formation of the commissions was delayed, owing to parties’ divergent views on the terms of the bills. The parties also agreed to follow the international standards and treaties signed by Nepal while forming the commission.
