Parliament Secretariat publishes notice, terminating Giri’s HoR membership
KATHMANDU:- The Federal Parliament Secretariat has published a public notice informing that Samajbadi Party leader Sarita Giri has been removed from member of the House of Representatives. The Secretariat acted on the decision of the Samajbadi Party to relieve Giri from the post of HoR member.
The party on Wednesday submitted a letter to the secretariat, asking the secretariat to terminate Giri’s HoR membership. Giri’s removal from HoR member was in line with Article 89 of the Constitution of Nepal, said the Secretariat. Giri being removed from HoR member has been notified to the secretariat before publishing a notice in this regard, said Bharat Raj Gautam, General Secretary of the Federal Parliament.
The Samajbadi Party on July 7 had decided to oust Giri as HoR member and party’s general member for defying party’s decision to unanimously pass the constitution amendment to revise the national map of the country.
A taskforce formed under the leadership of party General Secretary Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav recommended that the party sacked Giri as HoR member and party member.
