6 man including Yunus Miya Ansari arrested, fake Indian currency seized in Nepal


KATHMANDU: Nepal Police have arrested six people including Yunus Miya Ansari from the Tribhuvan International Airport while they were entering the airport to collect millions of fake Indian currency.
They were arrested at 9.30 am when they were on their way to receive the counterfeit Indian bank notes that had entered Nepal from Pakistan via Qatar, Nepal Police spokesman, Deputy Inspector General Bishwo Raj Pokharel, said.
Ansari is the person who has been implicated in several similar incidents before this also. Police said the investigation into this still continuing as it involves a large amount of fake currency.
Two Nepali and three Pakistani nationals have also been arrested along with Ansari, Deputy Superintendent of Police at TIA security office, Narayan Ranjitkar, said.
“We have found counterfeit Indian currency notes worth 35 million while counting the amount packed in one suitcase. The amount in two more suitcases is still to be counted,” Ranjitkar said.
Among those arrested along with Ansari are Sopal Khan and Sujan Ranabhat, and Pakistani citizens Mohammad Akhtar Nasiruddin and Najia Anuwar.
The Pakistanis were bringing the money on a Qatar Airways flight while the three others including Ansari had reached the airport to collect the amount.
