MAKWANPUR: One person was killed and 30 others were injured when two buses collided today at Basamadi of Hetauda-3 along the East-West Highway, Nepal.
A passenger bus ( Na 7 Kha 936) en route to Janakpur from Kathmandu and a bus bound to Kathmandu from Pashupatinagar, Ilam, collided resulting in the death of driver of the second bus, Man Bahadur Magar, 40, of Barahi rural municipality, Udyaypur.
According to the District Police Office (DPO), Makwanpur, the second bus was moving ahead on its own side and the first one coming from the opposite direction hit it while trying to overtake. The driver of the first bus has been on the run since the accident, DPO, Makwanpur’s police spokesperson Deputy Superintendent of Police Yagya Prasad Bhattarai said.
Magar who was seriously injured in the accident died in course of treatment at Churehill Hospital.
Among the injured, three are being treated at the Chitwan-based Medical College (Old); some have returned home following primary treatment while others are being treated at Hetuda.
