NSC accused of misappropriations

Kathmandu, March 27: Nepal Republican Sports Federation has called on the government to conduct an impartial investigation into the expenses of the Sixth National Games held in the Far-west region from February 26 to March 4, 2012.

The Federation has made this demand suspecting irregularities and misuse of funds in the Sixth National Games.

Speaking in a news conference here on Monday, Federation president Jayandra Bahadur Chand demanded that the bodies concerned should initiate probe into the financial irregularities widely suspected to have been committed in the regional sports competitions held in all the five development regions.

Chand accused the National Sports Council (NSC), country’s highest sports governing body, of promoting anomalies and malpractices in the sports sector and said the Federation would be compelled to launch protest programmes if these aberrations in the sports sector were not checked. RSS
