NRNs in Denmark submit memo to govt of Nepal calling for voting rights

DENMARK: Non-Resident Nepalis in Denmark have appealed to the government of Nepal to formulate rules and regulations immediately, ensuring the right to vote for non-resident Nepalis, who have been contributing to the development and prosperity of Nepal.

Various organizations representing the NRNs in Denmark submitted a memorandum addressed to the Government of Nepal at the Nepali Embassy in Denmark recently. The memo was handed over to Nepali Ambassador to Denmark Muktinath Bhatta.

The memo also copied to the major three political parties and the Election Commission of Nepal is signed by Chairpersons of Non-Resident Nepali Association, Denmark Liaison Committee, Prawasi Nepali Manch and Janapragatisheel Denmark.

The memo also appeals to the government to ensure that around three million Nepalis eligible for voting and currently out of the country are registered as voters so that they can return home during elections if not provided with an opportunity to cast their vote at the nearby Embassy. RSS
