Purushottam Dhakal, Los Angeles: The newly elected office bearers of NRN-NCC USA were administered oath of office and secrecy at program in New York today. Though the program was scheduled previously it was postponed because of the devastating earthquake in Nepal. Just after taking oath and assumed the task, the newly elected Chairman Mr. Keshab Paudel told the reporters that just after the devastating earthquake the elected team got instantly involved in relief and rescue operations he further told that the NRN-NCC America will announced the special package related to reconstructions for those who has lost their house .The chairman Paudel told that the organization will support and encourage for those people who are actively involved in American politics and Social work.
President Paudel thanked all the Nepali American for elected him and promised to work for the welfare of each and every Nepali American. Defeating his five opponents by huge margin democratic follower Dr. Keshab Paudel was elected by the election held a month before.
Organizing special program the Chief Election Commissioner Binod Roka has administered oath to the Chairman and to the other newly elected executive members, including Senior Vice-Chairman Krishna Pokhrel, Vice-Chairman Bandana Koirala, Rabina Thapa, Dilli Bhattarai and Ram Chandra Pokhrel. Rokka has also administered oath to other elected members, including General Secretary Tilak Shrestha, Secretary Shankar Khadka, Vice- Secretary Sangita Lamsal Shiwakoti, Treasurer Bed Basnet, Vice-Treasurer Prakash Sapkota. On the same program the election commissioner Mr. Rokka has also administered the oath to newly elected Public Relation coordinator Ram Kharel and its members Goma Shen, Surya Lamsal, Harish Chandra Hamal, Mohan Bahdur Gyawali , Binod Tiwari, shiva Raj Paudel, Bishnuman Pradhan , Govinda Shrestha, Shatendra Shah and Sushil Regmi.
Prior to this, Mr. Paudel medical doctor by profession got elected by defeating his nearest opponent Mr. Ganesh Kunwar by more than 3times the votes received. Mr. Ganesh Kunwar has registered candidacy with the support of CPN-UML Foreign Association. Rebel candidate against Paudel by Deuba fraction activist Nagendra Paudel couldn’t block the victory . Likewise, the vote received by candidate presented by the Rastriya Prajatantra Party Nepal’s supporter couldn’t cross the insulting zone too. Getting discontent with the political influence spreading within the organization the senor Journalist Rama Singh has registered the candidacy, but she has to satisfy with around 400 votes.
This is the second time that the NRN-American representative was selected by election. Nearly around 11 thousand voters participated to elect 60 different members. The different stages of this election reminds a glimpse of the Constituent Assembly election that occurred year back.
However, the NRN International Coordination Council (ICC) members is still couldn’t be selected due to few prolonged public dispute or debate arose.
The Chief Election Commissioner Mr. Binod Roka administered oath to all the newly elected members organizing a special program in New York City on last Sunday. During the program the Intimidate Past President, Mr. Khagendra GC has handed over the responsibilities to new Leadership. Durga P. Bhattarai, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Nepal to the United Nations was present in the program. Pravin Bhattarai Nepali Consulate in New York and hundreds of Nepali American from all around the USA have gathered in the New York that day to be a witness .
One minute silence was wished at the beginning for praying the dead soul to rest in peace and the speedy recovery of the injured people in the Nepal that has been brought about by the devastating earthquake.
