KATHMANDU: Following pressure from different student unions, the government is mulling to reduce the price of petroleum products.

According to Ministry of Supply, the Nepal Oil Corporation, state-run oil monopolist, is planning to decrease the price of petrol by two rupees per liter. The NOC had increased Rs 5 per liter of petrol, Rs 3 per liter of kerosene and diesel and Rs 7 per liter of domestic aviation fuel on September 10.

Meanwhile, the agitating 17 student unions have decided to announce further protest programs against the hike in fuel prices. NSU spokesperson UP Lamichhane said that a meeting scheduled for Tuesday in the Capital will finalize the second round of protests against fuel hike. The NOC is facing huge loss due to rise of dolor price against the Nepali currency but these days the price of dolor is declining gradually.
