KATHMANDU: Minister for Communications and Information Technology Gokul Banskota has said that there was no threat to republic. In a press meet organized by the Press Organization Nepal, Rupandehi chapter here today, Minister Banskota shared that the republic achieved through great struggle and sacrifice could not be toppled down easily.
He said, “Though different sectors and groups are active to ruin the system, it will not topple down easily.” On another note, he said that the government only wants to manage the media not to control it.
Minister Banskota argued that the media council bill was not meant to threaten media persons as it was only to manage and systematize the media sector. “Government has no intention to control press freedom”, he said. He said that the media should be responsible and accountable to the people, and social media should not guide the mainstream media.
Similarly, Minister Banskota committed to implementing clean feed and proportional advertisement distribution system at any cost.
On another note, the Minister said that the transfer of secretaries will not have any impact on the performance contract signed in different ministries.
