By Dikshya Tiwari, KATHMANDU:- In a developing country like Nepal, Covid-19 had a huge impact on every sector including Movie industries.
Film crews like technicians, cameramen, light man, labor and Jr. artists are still struggling financially due to shut down of Nepal Film industry because of the pandemic. Whereas, Nepali movies are in queue to be released.
”Cinema halls are the main source of our industry and banned on opening halls have created chaos inside the glamour world” stated by actor Anchal Sharma. On addition, she said, “Bollywood and Hollywood have many options like Netflix, Youtube, and other apps to release their movies but in a country like Nepal it’s quite impossible as none Kollywood movies are on Netflix till date and except Cinema halls other sources are not profitable for Nepal Film Industry”.
On the other hand, Hollywood has reopened on June 12 with some safety majors and Bollywood is looking for better alternatives.
In an interview with Nepal24hours.com National-Award, Winning Actress Swastima Khadka said that “Bollywood is persuading OTT platform and looking for more safety ways to continue their production but in Nepal, there are no other alternatives as of now”.
“I was a very impatient girl. I never liked to stay in the same place for a long time but the lockdown has improved my patience level” Swastima said with a giggle.
As known by all, Actress Anchal Sharma was just married when the lockdown began, and we asked her whether the lockdown was an advantage or disadvantage for her married life, she replied “We had one advantage as we got to know each other. It was our honeymoon time and honeymoon means to get to know each other deeply so lockdown was fruitful in view with family life”. ‘But despite that lives of many became monotonous and hard after nearly 3 months lockdown’ she added.
Even though our Kollywood is small as compared to others, there were many helping hands during this Pandemic.
Actor Paul Shah and Puja Sharma were reported of donating cash to Junior Film Crews. Priyanka Karki, Anchal Sharma, Deepak-Deepa Shri, Dhurmus-Suntali, Anju Panta, and many more were seen on road distributing foods and other utilities to needy people and stray animals.
“We all are on the same boat right now. Not only we but the whole world is facing a crisis. Therefore we need to stay safe and strong” said both Actress (Anchal and Swastima).
