N24 Correspondent, KATHMANDU:- The seventh session of the House of Representatives is starting from today. Parliament will meet at 4 p.m today.
President Bidya Devi Bhandari had dissolved the House of Representatives on December 19 on the recommendation of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. However, the Supreme Court ruled on March 26 that the dissolution of the parliament was unconstitutional and ordered a meeting within 13 days. Accordingly, the winter session of the reconstituted parliament is about to begin.
Even though the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) is divided into two camps, it has not been formally divided and both the parties have announced the leaders and chief whips of their respective parliamentary parties. Prime Minister Oli, on the other hand, has a strategy of not taking a vote of confidence and facing a no-confidence motion.
As in the previous convention, the first meeting will read a letter from the President’s Office regarding the convening of the convention. After that, the letter regarding the formation of the Council of Ministers received from the President’s Office will also be readout.
Various bills under consideration in the House of Representatives will also be introduced in this winter session which will be a bill session. The meeting also has a possible agenda to pass a condolence resolution on the death of 14 members of the House of Representatives and former parliamentarians. The final agenda of the parliament meeting will be decided by the meeting of the Business Management Advisory Committee.
