Nepal’s 685 local levels declared open defecation free zone


KATHMANDU: Nepal government has declared 685 local levels open defecation free zone within mid-March, 2019. The economic survey report of 2018/19 presented by the government at the Parliament on Monday mentioned that 436 rural municipalities and 249 municipalities have been declared open defecation free zone.
Out of 753 local levels, only 68 local levels are remained to be declared as open defecation free zone.
Similarly, of the 77 districts, 63 districts and three states have been declared open defecation free zone, reads the survey report.
The report mentioned that the government has set a goal to declare the country as open defecation free nation by ensuring the access of sanitation to all citizens and it has forwarded the campaign across the nation as a social movement.
Likewise, 88 per cent population, out of total population, has got access to basic drinking water facility till mid-March of this year.
