Nepali LGBTI finds Facebook unfriendly

Kathmandu: A leading of member of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and intersex (LGBTI) has urged Facebook for recognizing their identity.

Sunil Babu Pant, founder and director of Blue Diamond Society, urged the global social networking site for making provisinson to identify sexes other than male and female.

“people who do not identify as male or female continue to be sidelined by Facebook’s options. As you allow users to identify only as male or female, many in the LGBTI community feel as if they are hidden on the site, unable to identify as their true selves” said an open letter written by Panta.

The letter has further called on the site for respecting “gender-variant people around the world who want to socialize, organize, and be a part of your 21st century internet revolution,” and added that members of his community looked forward that Facebook encourages diversity.
