N24 Correspondent, LA, USA: A Nepalese origin journalist who has been working in the interest of Nepalese community has been issued death threat by another Nepali.
Journalist and social activist Sudeep Panta has been threatened by Los Angeles based Niraj Bhattarai after he testified against Bhattarai at a local court in Belflower.
According a press release issued by Panta, Bhattarai, who is said to be fluent in English, had sued Nirkaji Gurung and Manju Gurung at the local court. Panta along with Gurung Samaj President Krishna Gurung and Vice President of Nepal America Ekta Samaj Vice President Surya Prasai, and Parmeshwor Sanjal had testified against Bhattarai and in favour of the Gurungs.
Following the testimony, Panta claimed that Bhattarai had openly threatened to kill him at any cost. Following the threat, Panta has resorted to the local police for assistance, the press release said.
Bhattarai could not be contacted for a comment.
