By Phurpa Sherpa, KATHMANDU: A Nepali girl, who returned from Belgium a week ago, has tested positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19) infection, according to Dr. Bikash Devkota, spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population. She is from Baglung District, Nepal.
The 19-year old girl came to Nepal from Belgium on March 20 by Qatar Airways flight, QR 652. “This is the second case of coronavirus infection to be found outside Kathmandu,” said Devkota.
This was, however, the fourth confirmed case of coronavirus in Nepal. She is being treated at a hospital in Dhangadhi.
So far, 875 testing have been done in Nepal and 32 more will be done soon. There were 10 isolates at the Teku Hospital as of today.
Meanwhile, the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FNCCI) has announced to have donated nearly 75 surgical marks and 100 PPE to the government.
Likewise, the Integrated Trade Company has provided 400 PPE to the government to fight the coronavirus disease.
Owing to the fear of coronavirus spread in Nepal, a nationwide lockdown has been declared and the mobility of vehicles and people have been restricted, allowing only a few essential outlets like hospitals, groceries and the pharmacies to operate.
