KATHMANDU: President of Nepali Congress Sushil Koirala, who is also the chair of the High Level Political Committee, has called on President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav on Monday and discussed contemporary issues of the country.
During the meeting Koirala urged President Yadav to help for declaring the date for elections of the constituent assembly. Koirala urged President to help the government and major political parties to bring agitating parties to the talks for paving the way for the CA polls. Earlier, the alliance of 33-political parties including CPN-Maoist rejected the talks offer of four major political parties and the government and said that they would hold talks only with the President.
The meeting between the President and Koirala is seen with importance at a time when Chairperson of the UCPN-Maoist, Pushpa Kamal Dahal, is in India visit. Prachanda’s India visit is taken as an attempt to reach to the helm of power after making the incumbent government failure.
The alliance of 33-political parties has warned to foil the election to be held under the leadership of Chief Justice Khil Raj Regmi. They have demanded to scrap the 11-point agreement reached among the four major political parties which includes formation of CJ led government and form election government by holding round-table conference among all the political forces.
The four major political parties have formed the CJ led government for holding the elections of the constituent assembly as the leaders could not forge consensus for holding the CA polls for almost one year from the dissolution of the constituent assembly. President Dr. Yadav has been holding parleys with leaders of different political parties in a bid to hold the elections of the constituent assembly and bring the country out from the transition.
