Nepali Congress President Deuba and CPN-Maoist Chair Prachanda meet

KATHMANDU: Main opposition party, Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and Chairperson of CPN-Maoist Centre, Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ held a meeting today to discuss the contemporary political affairs.
At a meeting held at Deuba’s residence in Budhanilakantha this evening, the two former Prime Ministers discussed matters related to the conduction of parliament meeting, government and future political process.
It may be noted that today’s standing committee meeting of the Maoist Centre had decided to consult with other political parties including the main opposition on the matter. After hearing on a writ petition filed on the name of the Nepal Communist Party (NCP), the Supreme Court (SC) on Sunday had decided to bring back the Nepal Communist Party integrating CPN-UML and CPN-Maoist Centre to the stage before the merger took place. Acting on the apex court decision, the Election Commission (EC) has decided that the CPN-UML and CPN-Maoist Centre would remain as separate political parties from now onward.
