Nepali Congress leader Panta demands formation of probe committee on Baitadi case


KAILALI: Nepali Congress central member Dr Dila Sangraula Panta demanded Sudurpaschim province government form a high level probe committee and take action against those behind rape and subsequent murder of Bhagarathi Bhatta.
The government should book the culprit(s) and provide justice to the family of the rape victim at the earliest, she requested at a press conference in Dhangadhi on Saturday. She also stressed the need for stakeholders including civil society to join hands in providing security to women since the latter have felt insecurity amid rampant cases of violence against women. Bhatta, 17, of Chadepani of Dogadakedar Rural Municipality-7 in Sudurpaschim Province was raped before being murdered while returning home from school. The plus two student had gone missing since February 4 and was found dead in the local community forest the following day.
