N24 Correspondent, KATHMANDU:- Nepali Congress has convened a meeting of the Central Working Committee on the eve of the party’s 14th general convention. According to Chief Secretary Krishna Prasad Poudel, a meeting of the Central Committee will be held at the party’s central office Sanepa at 11:30 this morning.
He said that the meeting would mainly focus on the preparations for the party’s general convention to be held in Kathmandu from Friday. One of the leaders said that the issue of adding a joint general secretary to the Nepali Congress could be discussed today.
Leaders of President Sher Bahadur Deuba and senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel’s party are demanding the addition of at least two joint general ministers for leader management.
According to the Congress constitution, there will be eight joint general ministers. However, as there is not a single joint general secretary in the open, there is a demand for at least two joint general secretaries.
Deuba faction leader Govinda Bhattarai and Poudel faction leader Deepak Giri are raising their voice for the post of open joint general minister. Although Chairman Deuba seemed positive about this, senior leader Poudel did not agree at first.
Congress has been holding a meeting at the central office for a long time. The meeting was held at the residence of Chairman Deuba at Budhanilkantha after leaders and cadres staged a sit-in at the office.
