By Phurpa Sherpa, KATHMANDU: Youth protesters continue peaceful protest at Maitighar Mandala, Kathmandu on Saturday.
As Youths had gathered at Maitighar Mandala to continue the peaceful protest demand for improvement of conditions at quarantine facilities, wider use of PCR tests, and transparency in the system, the youths organized peaceful protests.
As the Government of Nepal had announced a nationwide lockdown from March 23, 2020, to fight the global spread of COVID-19 which have been declared a Pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO). In this time COVID-19 Pandemic is raging around the world as most of the Nepalese citizens are going through a tough time by the reason of Lockdown. Hundreds of Youths of the different parts of the country had taken part in peaceful protests with different slogans, placards against the government handling the COVID-19 cases in the country.
Similarly, on Thursday, the protesters were removed by the police force using the water cannon and lopped teargas on protesters around Bhat-Bhateni Super Market, Baluwatar area of Kathmandu. Whereas today at Maitighar Mandala we successes to conduct peaceful protests and will be continuing peaceful protest until government fill-up the demands as we have been maintaining social distancing and peaceful protest said, one of the volunteers of HAMINEPAL.
He said, HAMINEPAL has been volunteering since 2015 it is like a volunteer group and we had participated in today’s protest to maintain social distancing and providing medical care for the protesters and we have been actively participating in the peaceful protest.
One of the Youth said as the government has been declared a nationwide lockdown but not being serious about the COVID-19 crisis so every citizen especially young people of the country have been frustrated. He added, so we have been protesting peaceful protest by maintaining social distancing and using marks.
Meanwhile, one of the Youth protesters gave flowers to every police officer after the end of the peaceful protest at Maitighar, Kathmandu and police officers were smiling while receiving flowers from her.
