Nepalese journalists in UAE condole Giri’s death


KATHMANDU: The Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) UAE Chapter has expressed deep sorrow over the untimely demise of senior media professional Prabin Giri.

Giri who is respected as one of the pioneer figures in the broadcast journalism in Nepal had died of cancer yesterday. He was 62. He was also an Associate Professor of Economics in Tribhuwan University.

In a condolence note today, chapter secretary Arjun Dhakal has said the news about the death of senior journalist Giri has shocked the entire Nepali journalism community in Diaspora.

The chapter has termed the death of Giri as a fadeout of a ‘shining star’ in Nepali journalism.  Giri was a news reader at the state-owned Radio Nepal and the Nepal Television for many years.

Similarly, Chairman of Television Editors’ Guild Mahendra Bista in a press statement today has also expressed sadness over the demise of Giri and termed Giri’s death as an irreparable loss to Nepali journalism. RSS
