Nepal Police raid in hotels, nab 125 due to alleged involvement in flesh trade


KATHMANDU: Nepal Police metropolitan range, Kathmandu nabbed over 125 people during raids at various hotels and restaurants on Sunday night. Police have claimed that they arrested 125 people for their alleged involvement in flesh trade in hotels and restaurants of Kathmandu.
Police raided hotels and restaurants in New Bus Park, Gaushala, Old Bus Park, Bagh Bazaar and Kalanki areas, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Hobindra Bogati.
Police conducted the raids upon the complaints of locals of the area, he said.
Police said they would conduct raids at a regular interval as a campaign to manage the hotel business and restaurant’s night live a fault-free, he said. Of the arrested ones, 86 are females and others are males.
“We will bring the hotel and restaurant owners to book if they continued such practices in the days ahead. We have just warned them considering that the raids were conducted for the very first times in those hotels,” he said.
According to the Police Range, they had deployed special unit of women police in plain cloth to conduct raids in several hotels and restaurants. The police have been carrying out its investigation against the arrested ones after receiving remand order from the Kathmandu District Administration Office.
