Nepal Oil Corporation raises fuel prices

The corporation has increased the previous selling price of petrol by Rs. 133 to Rs. The price of diesel-kerosene has gone up by Rs 3 per liter to Rs 116.

By Sushma Tmanag, KATHMANDU:- The government has again increased the price of fuel. Nepal Oil Corporation has increased the prices of cooking gas, petrol, diesel, kerosene, and aviation fuel with effect from Friday night.

The corporation has increased the previous selling price of petrol by Rs. 133 to Rs. The price of diesel-kerosene has gone up by Rs 3 per liter to Rs 116.

The usual selling price for domestic and foreign aviation fuel is Rs. The price of domestic aviation fuel has been increased by Rs. 96 and the price of international aviation fuel has been fixed at USD 853 per kiloliter.


The LP gas price in Kathmandu is Rs. 1,500. The decision to increase the price by Rs 50 to Rs 1,500 per cylinder, said Pushkar Karki, co-spokesperson of the corporation.

The corporation did not adjust the price when the price received from the Indian Oil Corporation increased on September 1, September 16, and October 1, 2021. The last time the corporation did not adjust the price according to the price received from the Indian Oil Corporation, the corporation lost about Rs. The corporation has informed that it will incur a loss of Rs 2.22 billion.

‘Even after the price adjustment, the corporation has to pay Rs. 12.55 per liter, Rs. 11.67 per cylinder and LP gas at Rs. The corporation claims a loss of Rs 461.22 crore.

It is mentioned in the release that the corporation is compelled to increase the price in the coming days to reduce the loss of the corporation as the price of petroleum products is continuously increasing in the international market.
