KATHMANDU: Nepal government has decided to incorporate the conditional, special and supplementary grants received from the Federal and Provinces in the middle of the current fiscal year into the budget.
Sharing the decisions of the cabinet by organizing a press conference on Thursday, Minister for Communications and Information Technology and government spokesperson Gokul Prasad Baskota said that such a system was embraced to systematize the budget system by maintaining fiscal discipline.
Likewise, the meeting of the cabinet held on 16 December granted approval for the land acquisition to build office buildings and residences for the Phukot Karnali Hydropower Project.
The government has also decided to provide grant in compensation to the landowners for the use of private land for the purpose of different projects in various districts.
According to Minister Baskota, the council of ministers has decided to set up 114 border outposts (BOPs) under the Armed Police Force, Nepal in the border area. With new BOPs, the total posts in the bordering areas would be 221 and the move is expected to help curb crimes in the region.
Similarly, the government has approved the formal visit of Chief of Army Staff Purna Chandra Thapa to Bangladesh.
Furthermore, the cabinet meeting has transferred two government secretaries. Narayan Prasad Bidari has been transferred to the Prime Minister’s Office while Bal Krishna Ghimire has been transferred as the chief secretary for the office of the chief minister and council of ministers in Sudur Paschim Province.
