Nepal COVID-19 update: 5,087 new cases, three deaths in 24 hours

There are currently 18,235 active cases in the country. Among them, 17,291 have been receiving treatment in home isolations while 944 in institutional isolations, shared the Ministry. There are 111 COVID-19 patients in ICU, 25 on ventilator support and 115 in quarantine.

KATHMANDU:- The Ministry of Health and Population recorded 5,087 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. It is the highest spike in virus spread for some months in Nepal.

The new cases were confirmed through 20,560 samples tested in various laboratories across the country during the same period.

Similarly, three people succumbed to the contagion in a day. With this, the fatality from the infection mounts to 11,613 to date. The fatality rate is 1.4 per cent.

Likewise, 306 people got recovery from the infection in the past 24 hours, taking the recovery caseload to 815,653 as of now. The recovery rate stands at 96.5 per cent, the Ministry said.

Meanwhile, 320,267 people were vaccinated against COVID-19 on Friday alone. Morang, Sunsari, Kathmandu Lalitpur, Bhaktapur and Kaski districts have over 500 active cases of coronavirus while Jhapa, Chitwan, Makawanpur, Nawalparashi Purba, Banke, Rupandehi and Kailali districts have over 200 active cases.

Currently, COVID-19 cases are reported in all 77 districts of the country unlike in the past where few districts had no COVID-19 cases. There are 7,625 COVID-19 cases in Kathmandu, 1,935 in Lalitpur and 1,251 in Bhaktapur, according to the Ministry.
