Nepal became first among all the Asian countries as Nepal presented very attractive rally during the inauguration of the festival. First Secretary of the Nepali Embassy to United States Lekhnath Gautam informed that Nepal became first as the rally of Nepa Pasa Pucha participated by people in colorful dress with traditional Newari music Dhime Baja thrilled the visitors of the festival.
Nepal participated in the festival due to initiative taken by Nepali Ambassador to the US Dr. Shankar Prasad Sharma. Nepali people staying in the United States took part in the rally organized under the banner of different organizations active in the US.
A total of almost 200 Nepalese people including the Ambassador and other diplomats and persons from different walks of life took part in the rally. Nepali artists provided full entertainment to the participants of the festival during the day-long program. The plate dance originated from Chimkhola area of Myagdi district has been able to win the hearts of many foreigners.
Visiting tourists observed the promotional materials of Nepal Tourism Board. They also expressed keen interest on the handicraft goods produced in Nepal. A Nepali Restaurant entitled ‘Ghar Ek Kawaw’ has been serving delicious Nepali food to the tourists.
Around 50 thousand tourists have visited the day-long festival. Nepali Ambassador to the US Dr. Sharma has been playing pro-active role to promote Nepal in the US market in an attempt to give life to ailing tourism industry of the country. There has been decline in the number of tourists visiting Nepal in last two months despite various attempts from NTB and other tourism related organizations.
