BIRGUNJ: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defense Iswar Pokharel has said that the government has given priority to the construction of houses for the tornado-survivors. Laying the foundation stone for the people’s housing programme in Feta rural municipality-6, Bara this morning, he said the Nepali Army shall leave no stone unturned in completing the people’s houses.
Construction of houses is beginning today with the foundation being kicked off in 12 different locations of Bara and Parsa.
On the occasion, the Defense Minister also directed the NA unit to complete the construction work before monsoon. However, it will require support and cooperation from the local and State governments, he said. Any household without a housing plot will be provided a plot from public land.
Chief Minister of State-2 Lal Babu Raut welcomed the initiative taken by the federal government for the families affected by the tornado.
Also present at the foundation laying programme were Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Health and Population Upendra Yadav, Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa, Minister for Federal Affairs and General Administration Lal Babu Pandit, Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Raghubir Mahaseth, Minister for Water Supply Bina Magar, Minister for Women, Children and Elderly Citizens Thammaya Thapa, among others.
