KATHMANDU: The 26th Command and Staff Course began at the Army Command and Staff College, Shivapuri from today. Ten army officers from various 10 countries–Bangladesh, China, India, Lebanon, Maldives, Nigeria, Pakistan, Republic of Korea, Sri-Lanka and the United States–are attending the course as international students, college commandant and major general Ishwar Hamal said.
So far, 73 foreign army officers of 12 countries have completed the course which is considered vital in the world’s army organisation for leadership building and capacity enhancement of middle-ranking army officers.
Lieutenant General Sarad Giri inaugurated the 45-week training recognized as the Master’s degree level by the Tribhuvan University amidst a programme as the chief. It is being attended by 63 people including 50 NA officers and one each from the Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and National Investigation Department. So far, 871 NA officers and 46 from other bodies have successfully completed the course. Last time, one woman officer was selected for it, but this time no woman candidates succeeded in the primary test for attending the course, the NA said.
