KATHMANDU: Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal and Federal Republic of Germany have held political consultation for the first time. High ranking foreign ministry officials from both the countries met at the Joint Political Mechanism to discuss overall matters of mutual interest and concern.
The Nepali side in the consultation was led by Foreign Secretary Shanker Das Bairagi while the German delegation was led by Commissioner for South Asia at the German Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs Markus Potzel. Bilateral, regional as well as political and economic issues were discussed at length during the meeting, according to a foreign ministry official.
On the occasion, the Nepali side requested for technology transfer as well as moral and material support for the socio-economic progress of Nepal in the changed context.
Also today, Commissioner Potzel paid a courtesy call on Foreign Minister Pradip Kumar Gyawali. During the meeting, matters relating to various aspects and dimensions of Nepal-German relations were discussed, according to Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Earlier today, Non-residential ambassadors of Uganda, Bosnia Herzegovina and Cyprus to Nepal also called on Foreign Minister Gyawali separately.
