KATHMANDU:- The ward level convention of the Nepali Congress (NC) that kicked off on Friday concluded in 35 out of the 77 districts on Friday itself.
The ruling party’s central election committee said that a total of 56 districts had published the name list of the active members so far which gave headway to conduct ward level convention. Remaining districts will get the name list of the active members published serially.
NC addressed the longstanding disputed active membership issue in the party forming a committee which had probed into the dispute and come up with the name list of those meeting the criteria to be active member.
The 14th national convention of the ruling NC, which has over 850,000 active members, has been rescheduled from November 25-29 later this year.
Election Committee coordinator Mahadev Prasad Yadav told the National News Agency (RSS) that in the majorities of the ward conventions on Friday, new leaderships were elected to ward executive committee and regional representatives unanimously while in some through election.
The result of the elections held in ward conventions will be out by Saturday, added Yadav. Ward conventions will continue to take place until September 8 and rural municipalities and municipalities level conventions by 12 September.
Similarly, all the district and province level conventions are expected to be held by 29 October.
