KATHMANDU: General-Secretary of the ruling party Nepal Communist Party ( NCP), Bishnu Poudel, inaugurated the Xian South Asian Study Centre at Xian University in China’s Shaanxi Province today.
The Centre established by the Xian Municipal Government will conduct research and studies about China and South Asian countries. The Centre will also research about the economic development and investment promotion forging economic partnership with the South Asian countries including Nepal.
Prof Dr Rajiv Kumar Jha who has been teaching in the Xian University is the Director of the Centre. According to Jha, the Centre will conduct studies about economic, social and other issues of the south Asian countries and China and periodically submits report to the Chinese government exploring the economic prospects with the South Asian countries.
Jha shared that the inaugural ceremony was attended by the leaders of the Shaanxi provincial communist party, office-bearers of the University and Centre’s office-bearers.
On the occasion, General-Secretary Poudel said Nepal and China had ties since ancient times. “Both the countries are benefited by each other,” he said, lauding China’s cooperation and goodwill in the development practice of Nepal.
Stating that China was a good neighbor to Nepal and Nepal also committed towards China’s One-China policy, Poudel extended his gratitude towards the Chinese government and its people for China’s support in Nepal.
Poudel is scheduled to hold high- level meetings with the political leaders in Beijing on Tuesday.
Centre’s Director Prof Dr Jha viewed the Centre would further help bring Nepal and China closer.
The Xian provincial government had established a ‘China Nepal Friendship Medical Research Centre of Professor Rajiv Kumar Jha’ four years ago in recognition of Prof Dr Jha who has been working in China for the past 22 years. RSS
