
KATHMANDU: Although it is unlikely that the elections of the constituent assembly would take place on November 19, the Nepali Congress has started cadre training program targeting the November 19 elections from Saturday.
Some 300 senior cadres including central leaders are participating in the three-day training at party central office, Sanepa. They will get orientation from party leaders on the party’s election strategies and policies.
The party will conduct similar programs in the 240 election constituencies to encourage the cadres to actively involve in the election campaigning. The UCPN-Maoist, CPN-UML and Nepali Congress have been claiming to emerge victorious during the elections of the constituent assembly. All these parties have started different campaigns targeting the elections of the constituent assembly.
Meanwhile, speaking at a program in Lalitpur on Saturday, Nepali Congress general secretary Prakash Man Singh that the country will head towards deep crisis, if no election takes place in November this year.
“The election of Constituent Assembly is the only option for forging peace and drafting a new constitution,” he said, adding, “It is, therefore, imperative that we all parties unite and go for the polls collectively.” In the program, Singh felicitated individuals who contributed to the society through social and philanthropic works.
