KATHMANDU: As the political parties have been losing time for preparing for the elections of the constituent assembly, Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala has however said that the election to Constituent Assembly must be held on the stipulated date to free the country from political crisis.
Speaking at a program in the Capital on Saturday, the NC President said, “Now, none can foil election as it is must for resolving the political stalemate dogging the country.”
The four major political parties, who were encouraged from the positive response of the CPN-Maoist led alliance, are yet to start fruitful talks to ensure the election on time. “There were doubts about the first CA poll. Similar doubts are being expressed about the second CA poll, too. I want to ensure you that the poll will be held at any cost,” he added.
Koirala said he has seen excitement in people about the forthcoming election stressing that people have affection for his party. Being a responsible party, we will focus on addressing the concerns raised by all walks of life. He also blamed the UCPN-Maoist chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal provoking indigenous nationalities to resort to agitation.
“Dahal’s call for protest is the height of irresponsibility. If we are still stuck in ethnic wrangling, conflict and instability, our country has to face severe consequences. Every ethnic group, class and creed has to make some sacrifices to bring political stability in Nepal,” he added.
Despite their lip services about holding the elections of the constituent assembly, the political parties do not seem serious towards holding the elections on November 19 as announced by the election government as all the political parties have been passing through intra-party rift.
