KATHMANDU: With the agreement with Upendra Yadav led Madhesi Front for holding the elections of the Constituent Assembly on November 19, the political parties have expedited the electoral process. The major political parties seem confident that they would be able to hold the elections even if the Mohan Baidya led alliance do not take part in the elections.
The Nepali Congress (NC) on Saturday initiated the formal process to select candidates and prepare the party’s manifesto for the upcoming Constituent Assembly (CA) election slated for November 19.
A meeting of the NC office bearers held at the party’s central office in Sanepa decided to direct all district committees to recommend the names of potential candidates for all constituencies in the district by September 5. Likewise, the meeting formed a 15-member committee in party Vice President Ram Chandra Paudel’s leadership to draft the manifesto.
The committee comprises of Central Working Committee members Gopal Man Shrestha, KB Gurung, Bimalendra Nidhi, Ram Sharan Mahat, Arjun Narasingh KC, Mahesh Acharya, Narahari Acharya, Narayan Khadka, Minendra Rijal, Prakash Sharan Mahat, Mina Pandey, Man Bahadur Bishwokarma, Gagan Thapa and Badri Pandey, according to the NC central office.
If need be, the committee can add up more members in it, Chinkaji Shrestha, the chief secretary of the NC’s central office, said in a statement.
The meeting also decided to form a seven-member Election Fund Generation Committee under the leadership of party president Sushil Koirala. The NC has called its Central Committee to take necessary decisions to gear up election campaign for Friday.
