NC 14th National Convention: Final lists of candidate made public

KATHMANDU:- The Nepali Congress (NC) has released the final name list of leaders contesting the party’s central office-bearers and central committee members.
As released by the central election committee, Kalyan Kumar Singh, Prakashman Singh, Bimalendra Nidhi, Dr Shekhar Prasad Koirala and Sher Bahadur Deuba are the candidates for the single post of the party president.
Likewise, Dr Chandra Bhandari, Dibyashwori Shah, Dhanraj Gurung, Purna Bahadur Khadka, Mahesh Acharya, Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar and Sujata Koirala are vying for the post of vice-president. There are two seats for the vice-president in the NC.
Similarly, Gagan Kumar Thapa, Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat, Pradip Poudel, Dr Minendra Rijal, Dr Rajaram Karki and Bishwo Prakash Sharma are the candidates for the two seats of the general secretary, Coordinator of Central Election Committee Gopal Krishna Ghimire said.
Likewise, Kamala Panta and Mahalaxmi Upadhyay are vying for a single post of assistant general secretary under the woman’s quota while Ganga Sunar, Jiban Pariyar and Man Bahadur Bishwakarma under the Dalit’s quota, Bikash Lama and Bhishmaraj Angdembe under the Indigenous and nationalities’ quota, Kishor Singh Rathaore and Devraj Chalise under the Khas Arya quota, Mahendra Yadav, Ranjit Karn and Ram Krishna Yadav under Madhesi quota and Farmullah Mansoor and Shekh Wokil for a single post of assistant general secretary under the Muslim quota.
Furthermore, Uma Kanta Chaudhary and Teju Lal Chaudhary are contesting the poll for a seat of the assistant general secretary under the Tharu quota while Chetraj Bajal, Jiban Bahadur Shahi and Badri Pandey for a seat under the backward region’s quota.
According to the NC Central Election Committee, the leaders vying for 35 seats of central committee members are Ajay Babu Siwakoti, Arjun Narsingh KC, Al Hussein Ansari, Anandaraj Tripathi, Uttar Bahadur Eir, Udaya Shumsher Rana, Umesh Jung Rayamajhi, NP Saud, Kundan Raj Kafle, Dr Gopal Dahit, Gopalman Shrestha, Govinda Bhattarai, Prof. Dr Govinda Raj Pokharel, Tarani Dutta Chataut, Prof Dr Tirtharaj Khaniya, Dinesh Koirala, Dipak Koirala, Dilendra Prasad Badu, Nain Singh Mahar, Prem Bahadur Khadka, Bal Bahadur KC, Bal Krishna Khand, Ramesh Lekhak, Dr Ram Sharan Mahat, Dr Shashank Koirala, among others.
Similarly, Akala Gurung, Anita Devkota, Dr Arjzoo Rana Deuba, Ishwori Neupane, Puspa Bhusal, Dr Dila Sangraula (Panta), Sarita Prasain, Sabitri Bogati Pathak and others are contesting for nine seats of the central committee under the women open category.
