NC 14th Central General Convention: Voting for the new leadership begins

By Ranjana Thapa Magar, KATHMANDU:- Voting for the new leadership of the Nepali Congress has started at 8 am today. According to the schedule of the Central Election Committee, the polling was started at 8 am.

There are 5 candidates for one president, 7 for two vice presidents, 6 for two general secretaries, and 19 for 8 joint general secretaries.

On Saturday, 548 candidates had registered for 134 posts, including office bearers and central members of the new Central Committee. Out of them, 2 candidates for office bearers and 58 candidates for central members have withdrawn their nominations. Ramesh Rijal and Ananda Prasad Dhungana are the two central members of Province 2.

Three polling stations have been set up for today’s polling. Election Committee member Tej Rawal informed that two booths have been set up in the National Assembly and one in Bhrikuti Mandap.

About one thousand one hundred booths have been set up in those polling stations. Voting is scheduled for 8 am to 5 pm on Monday to elect a new Central Committee from the General Convention. 4,743 people will cast their votes in the general convention.
