KATHMANDU: National Assembly members cast doubt over effective implementation of budget even if it is public-oriented.
Taking part in discussion on the budget for the coming fiscal year 2019/20 in today’s NA meeting, lawmaker Khimlal Bhattarai argued that the budget brought by the government is the best budget as it has equally incorporated all communities including farmers and works.
Similarly, Sarita Prasain expressed doubt over effective implementation of the budget, saying the government has increased the budget size without any homework.
Likewise, Udaya Sharma Poudel said, “The budget has addressed women, elderly people and people with disability. Making arrangement of sanitary pad to students in school and addressing women volunteers is the matter of happiness. The budget is socialism oriented.”
Saying the main problems of Madhes have not been incorporated in the slogan of prosperity forwarded by the government, NA member Brishesh Chandra Lal protested the budget.
Lawmaker Raj Kumar Kunwar said that the government’s goal to graduate to middle-income status from low-income status was positive while Singha Bahadur Bishwokarma said that the budget is centered in overall development of the state by protecting constitutional rights of the people.
Similarly, lawmaker Prakash Panta termed the budget ‘distributive’.
