Whereas, Nepali artists do not get this facility from the government. They have been traveling abroad on green passports.
Minister of Finance and Communication and Information Technology Dr. Yuvaraj Khatiwada has now promised to provide a red passport to the artist. During an inspection by the Film Development Board on Friday, he said that red passports could be issued to veteran actors. He has also instructed the board to study and bring a corresponding program for this.
Minister Khatiwada said that people in the film sector should have the same access when they go abroad as people in other sectors. He said, “People from other business sectors get the kind of access when they go abroad, some ask for a red passport, some use the VIP room.” That’s the decent thing to do, and we are capable of doing it.’
Minister Khatiwada also said that it was impossible to provide the facility of red passports to all the entertainers due to limited resources. He said that the facility could be provided to the most distinguished artists as a mark of respect. He assured that the film sector would also get the same benefits as other industries and businesses affected by the coronavirus.
