Meeting of major parties underway at Prachanda’s residence

The leaders of the major four political forces- UCPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress, CPN (UML) and United Madhesi Democratic Front- are holding a meeting to forge a consensus as only one day has been left for recommending the Prime Minister candidate of national consensus to the President.
The meeting is underway at the residence of UCPN (Maoist) Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ in Lazimpat. Along with the top guns of the major parties, Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai is also present in the meeting.
Congress is going to propose party president Sushil Koirala as the Prime Minister candidate in the meeting. Earlier today, the Central Working Committee of the Congress has unanimously endorsed Koirala as the PM candidate on behalf of the party. UML has already made it clear that it would back the PM candidate of Congress. However, Maoist has said that it would support the Congress PM candidate with few conditions. Maoist has sought a package deal in all disputed issues including the government leadership. It has also asked Congress to come up with the road-map for ending the current political disputes.
Likewise, UDMF is still undecided over the leadership of new government. However, Bijay Kumar Gachhadar, coordinator of the UDMF, talking with the journalist after meeting Koirala at his own residence few days back, had said that he would be happy to see Koirala as the Prime Minister of the country.
