KATHMANDU: Chairman of the ruling Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda and Deputy Leader of the Parliamentary Party Subash Nemwang have met.
Nemwang reached Khumaltar at the request of Prachanda when talks between the two presidents could not take place. According to a source sent by Baluwatar after Prachanda said in a telephone conversation with Chairman KP Sharma Oli that he wanted to talk to Nemwang.
Nemwang did not want to divulge what happened to Prachanda. Stating that the discussions so far have been positive, he said that he is optimistic and everyone’s initiative should be focused on building understanding between the two presidents.
Stating that he was trying to resume talks between the two presidents, Nemwang said there was no possibility of a meeting today.
According to a source, Prachanda told Nemwang that he was in a deal to split the party.Nemwang, on the other hand, said that there was no alternative to moving ahead with the agreement of the two presidents till the General Convention, and if left or right, unity would be broken and the country would be in crisis.
Despite talks between Oli and Prachanda for three consecutive days since Sunday, the stalemate in the CPN (Maoist) has not been resolved. The discussion scheduled for Wednesday was postponed to Prachanda’s request.
